Safety Switch Fault Finding Online

IF YOUR SAFETY SWITCH TRIPS

Try to reset it first, if it will not reset it is either
(A) a faulty appliance or lead.
(B) a fault in the hard wiring.
(C) a faulty safety switch.

(A1) you should unplug all appliances from the wall ( dont just turn them off).
(A2) Reset the safety switch and start plugging the appliances back in 1 by 1.
(A3) The faulty appliance will self identify itself when the safety switch trips.
(A4) Unplug the faulty appliance and take it to an electrician for repair.
(A5) Then reset the safety switch again.

for (B) or (C) Call an electrician to find the fault.

If you are having trips regularly this indicates there is something wrong.

GOOD ADVICE
1) Install your fridges and freezers on separate safety switches.
This way if a trip occurs your food will not be spoiled.
2) One reason why safety switches trip infrequently can be if you have a 4 way Kambrook with surge protection plugged in and if there is switching in the supply lines or a lightning strike it can cause your supply voltage to spike briefly creating a earth leak from the surge protection 4 way Kambrook which results in the safety switch tripping.
Safety switch trips like these are a good thing because if there is a surge or lightning strike the safety switch will trip and all of your appliances will be disconnected from the mains supply and are less likely to be damaged from that dangerous surge voltage.
